Inspiration sources: photographers

I'm constantly browsing the internet and finding new photographers to follow. It gets me inspired and shows a new view on photography. Keeping an open mind about what you're doing is such an important element. I try to analyse the photos I love, see what works for me and why it works. Figuring out why you like a photo or any piece of art for that matter can help you focus on your own proces. Keep in mind that being inspired does not mean stealing, Joel Robison wrote an amazing blog post about this. Go check that out as well! So here you go, 8 of my favorite photographers at this moment!

Lauren marek

Lauren is a lifestyle photographer based in Texas. She was probably one of the first photographers I ever stumbled across on Flickr. Since the beginning I found it really inspiring how she is able to represent her life in such an honest and vulnerable way. One thing that comes to mind is when she took a photo of her younger brother John for a couple years in a row to show how he changed. In a strange way I feel like a part of her world when looking through her amazing portfolio. Website - Facebook - Flickr

Samuel Bradley

Samuel is a London based editorial photographer. When you look at his portfolio you can see a young and urban vibe going throughout. His use of bright colours and soft pastel tints brings you into a world that just looks a bit better than real life. He has worked with some amazing brands, and I must admit I was jealous when he got to shoot Benedict Cumberbatch for OUT magazine. I'm curious to see what he'll be sharing in the future. Nicholas Scarpinato

Next on the list is Nicholas Scarpinato. He's truly a cinematic genius. His photos look like still frames from an incredible movie. He is able to create a very surreal and dreamy look to his photos each and every time. Colour wise he is just incredible, constantly mixing muddy brown tones with vibrant yellows and blues. It has been an amazing experience seeing his work evolve over the years. I'm also super excited to see some actual films from him, since he leans very much to cinematography in his photos. It's all very exciting and I really recommend you check out his portfolio. Website - Facebook - Flickr

Laurent Chehere

Laurent Chehere is a newer addition to my list of obsessions. I discovered this French photographer when his series of floating houses went viral and was featured on every hip and cool website on the internet. When I looked into his work I discovered the amazing work he had been shooting for these huge companies. He is so inspirational for the work he puts out as well as for his career as a commercial photographer. Website - Facebook

Alex Stoddard

Alex is one of those photographers that probably doesn't need an introduction for most people who have been active on Flickr or Facebook over the last years. His portfolio is super impressive and it keeps getting better. I especially love the way he is able to combine fashion photography with his surreal style. The photos he puts out have such a classic and timeless feel about them, even though they're super modern and pushing boundaries every time. Website - Facebook - Flickr

Korinne Bisig

I have to admit I'm probably a bit biased putting Korinne in this list because I'm so lucky to call her one of my closest friends. Korinne Bisig is an incredible photographer with a great eye for beautiful things. I'm always excited when she mentions new photos are coming up. Her style is mainly clean black and white, even though I chose this amazing colour photo to feature. The way she documents her life in Washington and the trips she does in the US just kicks up my wanderlust each and every time. Website - Facebook -  Flickr - Instagram

Natalie Kucken

Natalie is one of those people who is able to put her signature on every single image she puts out. In her fashion photography as in her lifestyle photos, you instantly know it's hers. Blue, milky and dreamy colours fill Natalie's portfolio. I started following her work on Flickr when Natalie was doing her 365 project in 2009 and she has come such a long way since then. It has been an amazing journey to watch! Website - Facebook - Blog
